      New thinking

      new-thinking

This report aims to provide practical answers to executive leadership’s DEI questions. To accomplish this, we adopted an innovative methodology, involving a unique blend of interdisciplinary practices and paradigms. Specifically, we drew from the realms of business, academia, news, and community (B • A • N • C), endeavoring to bring together the best aspects of each discipline: Business metrics for actionable insights, adherence to academic standards, creation of newsworthy reports with journalistic integrity, and a deep respect for and understanding of various communities.

The survey data exposed some widely held assumptions that are unfortunately incorrect including what researchers call the “Blindspot Paradox”:

      1) “If a group VALUES something, they SAY things that are consistent with those values – the same being linked to other inclusion activities too (SEE, THINK, DO).” This is not true. The data consistently showed each Inclusion Activity can stand alone without linkages.

      2) “If one group sees their own challenges, they see another group’s similar challenges.” This is not true. The data consistently showed how groups don’t see each other’s similar challenges.
